Customer Service Representative (CSR) – Personal Lines (PL) Job Summary

  • Annual Salary:  $34,355 - $39,508 - $44,662

The CSR-PL, working under direct supervision, provides agent, marketing, and management support of Personal Lines programs for Specialty Brokerage Services. Support may include: answering questions; providing information, direction, quoting, and/or advice; and other customer service related tasks. 

 

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

1. Working under direct supervision, provides agent, marketing, and management support of Personal Lines programs.

2. Answers agent questions via telephone, email, or other communication systems. Provides information, direction, and advice on Personal Lines products.

3. Provides quality customer service to agents in the day-to-day servicing of new/renewal business. This may include the handling of a renewal book as assigned.

4. Provides clerical/ quoting and other support to Specialty Brokerage Services employees/producers.

5. Processes incoming and outgoing correspondence including, applications, quotes, policies, endorsements, and brokerage agreements utilizing standard office equipment and procedures.

6. Maintains an operating knowledge of specific carrier coverage forms, automation systems, eligibility requirements, and program details.

7. Binds and invoices business on a timely basis for applicable accounts.

8. Maintains customer service standards as defined by procedure manuals, process documents, or direction from SBS leadership.

9. Documents activity in our Agency Management system.

10. Prepares correspondence and various management reports using word processing and agency software. 

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

1. One year of experience answering customer inquiries via telephone, email or in person.

2. One year of work experience with public interactions.

3. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Property-Casualty Insurance License within 90 days of employment.

4. Strong Customer Service skills and/or orientation.

5. Demonstrated strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

6. Demonstrated understanding of general business flows, procedures, and systems required.

7. Demonstrated experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and other standard office automation software packages (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel).

8. Demonstrated experience in performing general office support functions.

9. Proven ability to handle confidential information.

10. High School diploma, GED, or commensurate experience.


Physical Requirements (specific to the role) 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

* Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing, and working on a computer for extended periods of time).

* Ability to hear and speak clearly in order to communicate via telephone for majority of the workday.

* Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as: telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.

* Ability to read a standard type document.

* Ability to physically and accurately file.
