CLPP Performance Insight Analyst Job Summary
  • Annual Salary:  $75,754 - $87,117 - $98,481
The Commercial Lines Product and Profitability (CLPP) Performance Insight Analyst directly assists CLPP Leadership and the Profitability Leader to drive achievement of profitable growth objectives for Middle Market and Agribusiness across all Lines of Business (LOBs). The Performance Insight Analyst monitors results against expectations, extracts and manipulates data from various sources to analyze trends and identify/understand drivers of performance. Develops and evaluates expected business impacts due to current and planned performance, actions and strategies. Conducts competitor analysis and market research to establish a Westfield scorecard against target competitors and the market overall. Recommends actions and strategies based on analysis to enhance or correct LOB, MM or Ag performance. The CLPP Performance Insight Analyst utilizes strong analytical skills, an insatiable curiosity and a drive to collaboratively solve problems with limited supervision.

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)

1. Assists CLPP Leadership and the Profitability Leader to drive achievement of profitable growth objectives for Middle Market and Agribusiness across all Lines of Business (LOBs).

2. For assigned LOBs/States/Business Segments, responsible for analyzing and evaluating performance against expectations to form recommendations regarding growth and loss mitigation opportunities for market/competitors, risk appetite, agency management, and product innovation and enhancements.

3. With a high degree of quality, independently extracts and manipulates data from various sources to analyze trends, identify/understand key drivers and monitor results against expectations.

4. Collaborates across Business Segments, CLPP, ARC, Actuarial, Agency, Marketing on all aspects of performance management to ensure strong working partnerships and a common information basis for recommendations/action.

5. Accountable for knowing and analyzing the state/LOB/regional Business Segment Perspective and Performance to collaboratively guide the rate review process with Actuarial.

6. Develops and evaluates expected business impacts due to planned initiatives. Monitors and reports on initiative performance against those expectations.

7. Conducts competitor analysis and market research including pulling and extracting relevant data from competitor rate filings and/or industry publications, identifying opportunities to improve Westfield’s product offering/segmentation.

8. Ensures data governance best practices. Works with ARC, Actuarial, CLPP and Business Segments to improve data quality, consistency and completeness.

9. Assists CLPP and the Profitability Leader in analyzing, managing, and driving profitable growth.

10. Serves as Project Manager for assigned initiatives.

11. Develops recommendations and presents findings to various levels of leadership.

12. Travels as needed to perform essential functions.

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)

1. 4+ years of professional analytical or data science work experience including expertise in providing analytics, reporting and recommendations of basic to moderate complexity.

2. Advanced Excel skills including knowledge of spreadsheet functionality including v-look-ups, pivot tables, charts, graphing and macros.

3. 2+ years of P&C insurance experience.

4. Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.

5. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including persuasive skills resulting in the ability to interact with all levels of stakeholders and present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.

6. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team (at all levels of the organization) to achieve desired results.

7. Experience using SQL or advanced analytical tools such as SAS.

8. Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or related field or commensurate insurance experience.

9. Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record that conforms to company.

* Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).

* Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as: telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.

* Ability to travel as required.
