Agency Banking Commercial Loan Officer 1 Job Summary 
The Agency Banking Commercial Loan Officer 1 is responsible for representing Westfield Bank to potential external customers (e.g. agents, agencies) for the purpose of developing both commercial loan and business deposit services.  The Agency Banking Commercial Loan Officer 1 develops and maintains profitable customer relationships and works to create centers of influence for purposes of business development. The Agency Banking Commercial Loan Officer 1 collaborates with the Agency Banking Leader in developing banking and lending acumen and financial solutions for customers. 

 

 

Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)
1. Represents Westfield Bank to potential external customers for the purpose of developing both commercial loan and business deposit service. 
2. Creates and builds profitable customer relationships with business clients (e.g. agents, agencies) by providing financial advice and Bank solutions.
3. Networks within the business/civic communities to create new sales and business development opportunities for the full range of Westfield Bank services. This includes developing centers of influence internally within Westfield Insurance leadership and externally (e.g. agents, agencies, agency            consulting firms). 
4. Collaborates with the Agency Banking Leader to create and develop flexible commercial lending solutions for customers, presents lending solutions to Bank Executive team and potential customers. 
5. Collaborates with the Agency Banking Leader and utilizes prior banking/business experience, understanding of cash flow, and, asset/liability valuation to analyze and recommend loan requests and set loan pricing options. 
6. Understands, respects, and complies with all laws, rules and regulations which govern Banking institutions.
7. Constructs, prepares, and presents financial reports and credit summary memos that comply with Bank standards.
8. Develops banking, lending, and financial acumen through working and collaborating with the Agency Banking Leader and more experienced Agency Banking Commercial Loan Officers.
9. Travels frequently to meet with clients, prospects, and to enhance national brand awareness of Westfield Bank’s agency banking capabilities. This includes planning, scheduling, coordinating and ensuring Westfield Bank representation at trade shows, conferences, and industry events. 
10. Networks within Westfield Insurance’s agency force at on-site Westfield events to create new sales and business development opportunities for the full range of Westfield Bank services. 
11. Makes calls on business and prospective clients with Agency Banking Leader, other Agency Banking Commerical Loan Officers, and/or independently. Begins developing, establishing and ultimately maintaining profitable customer relationships with agency clients by providing financial advice and bank solutions.  
12. Makes presentations both internally and externally for means of creating awareness of agency banking products and services. 
13. May resolve difficult client situations involving the collection of delinquent loans, etc. 
14. Compiles month end agency banking results as part of larger report that is presented to the Board. 
15. Continually looks for opportunities to proactively upgrade and improve Bank administrative processes, technology, automation and controls.
16. Maintains awareness, understanding and compliance with the Bank's internal policies and procedures, laws and regulations appropriate for this position.
17. Provides assistance in response to regulatory and internal/external audit requests.
18. Travels as needed in order to perform other essential functions.

 

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)
1. Minimum of 2 years of relevant banking experience (e.g. commercial lending, consumer lending, premium financing, treasury management).
2. Experience maintaining a high degree of customer service focus.
3. Strong negotiation skills gained via previoius work experiences and/or assignments. 
4. Experience building external relationships for the purposes of business development and sales.
5. Ability to travel regularly. 
6. Experience being accurate with a focus on attention to details via previous work assignments. 
7. Experience being adaptable and resourceful in various situations. 
8. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills. 
9. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills. Proven ability to build external relationships for the purposes of business development and sales.  
10. Must display a high level of initiative via an entrepreneurial spirit. 
11. Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
12. Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Word) or other transferable software packages. 
13. Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated commensurate experience. 
14. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.

 

 

Physical Requirements (specific to the role)    
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  
• Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).
• Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as:  telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Ability to operate an automobile within the parameters of the driving policy including the ability to drive for extended periods of time, under a variety of conditions, including night driving. 
• Ability to work outside the office which may include walking, driving, flying, and overnight stays.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
