Cashier/ Barista Job Summary
- $10.00 an hour
As directed, the Cashier/ Barista performs varies tasks such as operating a Point of Sale (POS) terminal, handling cash, serving food and beverage(s), and cleans assigned areas (including dish washing) at one of the following locations: Smucker Hall, Pillars, Blair Center, Inn or the Country Club. The Cashier/ Barista is responsible for upholding food safety and Westfield standards
Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)
1. Performs varies tasks such as operating a Point of Sale (POS) terminal, handling cash, serving food and beverage(s), and cleans assigned areas (including dish washing) at one of the following locations Smucker Hall, Pillars, Blair Center, Inn or the Country Club.
2. Prepares work area for daily operations by making sure their designated work stations are properly stocked and sanitized, as well as assisting with food prep and any other related duties.
3. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of the designated work area (may include the washing of dishes) in compliance with all food safety and Westfield Hospitality standard operating procedures.
4. Greets customers courteously, answers questions professionally and accurately and escalates issues to leadership as necessary.
5. Assists others on the team as needed to ensure work is completed and a high level of customer service is provided.
6. Fulfills customer orders by serving food and beverages, following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques.
7. Maintains strong operating knowledge of hospitality operations systems and applications.
8. Gains knowledge and educates customers by presenting and explaining offerings and answering questions.
9. Achieves the high standards of quality, production, cooperation, and service set by Westfield for our employees, guests and customers.
10. Complies with all OSHA and Westfield safety/training/certification standards within required timeframes.
11. Consistently reports to work on time and completes shifts, as scheduled.
12. May travel between Westfield on-campus facilities as needed.
Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)
1. Experience and strong working knowledge of customer service.
2. Strong oral and interpersonal skills resulting in the ability to communicate effectively internally and externally.
3. Experience working independently as well as within a team environment.
4. Previous Cashier/ Barista experience.
5. High school diploma, GED or commensurate experience.
6. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.
Physical Requirements (specific to the role)
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
* Ability to remain on feet, standing and walking for the majority of the workday.
* Ability to maintain movement, bend, reach, lift and carry 40lbs.
* Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as: telephone, computer, web, voice, e-mail, etc.
* Ability to travel as required.
