Shift Coordinator Job Summary
- $13.00 an hour
- Must have availability to work a minimum of 4 days and 16 hours per week
Shift Coordinator oversees day to day operational activities at one of the following locations they are assigned to: Club, Blair Center, Westfield Inn, General Store and Corporate Dining (Smucker Hall, Corporate vending, and Pillars). They are responsible to supervise, schedule and train assigned staff and perform line/floor duty work as necessary in the development of products and/or delivery of services consistent with predetermined quality standards.
Essential Functions (primary functions and/or reasons the job exists in order of importance)
1. Oversees day to day operational activities for assigned.
2. Provides day to day supervision for the assigned Corporate Hospitality operation location (e.g. Blair Conference Center, Westfield Inn, Westfield Country Club, and/or Corporate Dining).
3. Provides daily delegation of duties and oversight of line employees in area of responsibility which may include: Servers, Bartenders, Event Staff, Housekeepers, Food Service Workers, Golf Attendants, Grounds staff, Cashiers/Barista, Receptionists, Line Cooks, etc.
4. Assists in employee selection and serves as the primary trainer of line and seasonal employees in their area of responsibility. Oversees daily implementation and follow-up for training.
5. Ensures employee adherence to department Universal Standards and standard operating procedures in their areas of responsibility.
6. Schedules staff based on anticipated operational needs, labor budget guidelines and monitoring of actual labor hour costs and controls.
7. Works as line employee when volume of business requires. Shift coordinators may act as server, cashier/barista, bartender, golf attendant, on course hospitality attendant, event staff, housekeeper, receptionist, line cooks, etc.
8. Maintains high level of customer service and provides immediate attention to all guests in accordance to the Westfield Hospitality Operations Department Universal Standards.
9. Maintains cost control procedures to assist in maintaining budget guidelines and inventory management.
10. Participates in and successfully completes Westfield’s Shift Coordinator Certification Program, intended to develop core skills necessary in a leadership role.
a. If assigned to pool, must obtain and maintain 1st aid, CPR, and life guard certification.
11. Complies with all OSHA and Westfield safety/training/certification standards within required time frames and monitors safety conditions for employees and guests.
12. Creates an environment within areas of responsibility that fosters and promotes collaboration with other areas within the Hospitality Operations Department.
13. Ensures proper organization, cleanliness and sanitation of all facilities and environments. Reports all information regarding room and or facility issues to leadership in a timely manner.
14. Directs activities as needed in the absence of the Unit Leader, Assistant Unit Leader, or Supervisor.
15. Travels between Westfield on-campus facilities as needed.
Desired Qualifications/Experience/Certification/Education (in order of importance)
1. Minimum of two years’ experience working in hospitality or related field.
2. Experience maintaining a high degree of customer service focus.
3. Experience in administration including one or more of the following: scheduling, organizing, and /or coordinating day-to-day operational activities.
4. Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
5. Experience collaborating effectively within a team environment.
6. Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
7. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.
8. High school diploma or GED.
Physical Requirements (specific to the role)
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
* Ability to work with frequent variations in temperature, hot and cold both indoors and outside for 40+ hours per week.
* Ability to remain on feet; standing and walking for an 8-hour work day.
* Ability to lift and carry 40lbs.
* Ability to bend and reach.
* Ability to operate various tools and equipment related to the hospitality industry such as cooking equipment and utensils, point of sale registers, wine openers, golf cart etc.
* Ability to travel as required.
* Ability to operate an automobile within the parameters of the driving policy.
