We’re looking for experienced, collaborative, results-driven critical thinkers from a diverse array of personal and professional backgrounds to lead the development and refinement of new venture concepts based on deep customer insights.

The Opportunity
The Venture Manager: Project Management collaborates closely with the 1848 Ventures’ Concept Development and Innovation Practice teams. S/he will lead implementing a project management system and support the needs of the concept development squad teams across 1848 Ventures’ innovation engine. In partnership with concept development squads, s/he is responsible for the overall planning, execution, and delivery of concept development milestones and artifacts through the point of minimum viable product (MVP,) which includes project review artifacts, risk and decisions logs, budgets, timelines, etc. The Venture Manager: Project Management is focused on ensuring project results contribute positive business value and meet agreed upon scope, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

S/he will work with the concept development squad teams to define the project scope, schedule, budget, and resources as well as identify the knowledge and skills required for concept development squad resources and the appropriate division of project roles and responsibilities on the project. S/he will develop team onboarding materials and communicates these to squad members.

Qualifications:
  • Experience managing a gated innovation system in a corporate innovation environment and coaching innovators along the process:
    • Monitors all project aspects on an ongoing basis against the plan, requirements, and quality measures
    • Facilitates the definition of project goals, tasks, and resource requirements 
    • Reinforcement of financial concepts and principles within project efforts to drive effective decision making by project teams
    • Reinforcement of quality practices and measures within project efforts with the goal of ensuring product quality
    • Monitoring and measuring team performance against project objectives and role accountabilities
    • Identifies, monitors, and assists in controlling project risks and issues
    • Ensure after-action reviews are performed and the insights are incorporated into future efforts. Performs project reviews with squad and identifies areas for improvement
    • Promotes adherence to standardized 1848 Ventures processes and practices
    • Celebrates accomplishment of milestones and inspires team
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects of high complexity focused on managing the work distribution, scope, timetables, budget and priorities of the work effort required to complete a project with expertise of formal project management methodology, preferred PMI certification
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills that enabled: 
    • Developing and distributing regular project communications/status reports
    • Assisting concept development squad producers with managing relationships, communications, and expectations with the guides, project sponsor, and other stakeholders
    • Supporting connection between project resources and key stakeholders/sponsors
